The creepiest of Bloody Brains Gelatin can easily be made for Halloween parties this year! Make this brain and watch everyone get grossed out in the best possible way. It looks gross but its a sweet dessert that can actually be eaten.

Made with raspberry gelatin this sweet, fruity, and creamy dessert is cool and refreshing. Cool whip makes the red gelatin look more realistic while also making it a little lighter and fluffier while still holding its spooky shape. The brain mold is something you can easily order from Amazon and I suggest if you’re planning to make this dessert order the mold immediately.
Halloween Party Food
This is perfect for any Halloween feast, party, or potluck. It’s fun, festive, and guaranteed to be a conversation starter on the table. Be sure to add a spoon so people know it’s edible.
If you’re going for the gross out vibe then make my Bloody Band-Aids! They’re sweet to eat, easy to make, and look disgusting. If you’re going for a more gentle vibe try Vampire Donuts or Eyeball Donut Holes.
What You Need To Make Bloody Brains
A shopping list makes it easy to gather everything you need without forgetting small but important items. With everything ready, the recipe comes together smoothly.
- 2 6-ounce boxes red gelatin, flavor of your choice
- 4 cups boiling water
- 1/2 cup cool whip
- brain mold (about 5 cups) any will work, this is the brain mold I used
- baking spray
You can swap in any red gelatin flavor you prefer, cherry, strawberry, or even try peach for slightly different tastes while keeping the creepy effect.
How To Unmold Gelatin Mold
To unmold a gelatin mold cleanly, start by loosening the edges with a thin knife or spatula, or if using this soft silicone branin mold bend the edges back away from the gelatin. Taking care not to cut into the gelatin or tear the gelatin. Fill a bowl or your sink with warm, not hot, water and lower the mold in just until the water reaches near the rim. Let it sit for about ten seconds, then lift it out and give it a gentle shake to see if the edges pull away.
Place your serving plate upside down over the mold, hold them together firmly, and flip them in one smooth motion. Let the mold rest on the plate for a few seconds to allow the gelatin to release, then lift it away carefully. If it’s still stuck, dip it briefly in the warm water again or give it a light tap to help it loosen.
To Store
Keep the Bloody Brain tightly covered in the fridge. You don’t want it to absorb any fridge flavors. It should hold its shape and flavor for a couple of days, though the presentation is best the first day.
