Can You Really Cook A Pork Roast in the Slow Cooker?

YES! It’s an easy way to cook a pork roast. It won’t have the crispy and crunchy bits like an oven-roasted pork roast. It will be more like a pot roast, a pork roast pot roast. Soft, shreddable, and perfect for a comfort food dinner.

How long to cook a pork roast in the Slow Cooker

A four pound pork roast will cook on high in about four hours in the slow cooker. You should cook it in two shifts when cooking on high. Cook it part way and then add the vegetables.

If you’re going to be gone all day you can cook it all day on low for 6-8 hours. Add the vegetables at the beginning and just let them cook, they will be really well done. If you can swing it, have someone add them in halfway through the day, that works better for the vegetables.

Remember though, all slow cookers cook differently, at different temperatures. They can vary widely in their cook times as well. I always remind people to make this recipe on a day when it doesn’t matter whether it’s done late or early or right on time.

That way next time you make it you know exactly how long your slow cooker takes for this recipe.

    1. It might. But since it’s a light, white meat without much added fat it won’t help a lot.

Made this last night and was so juicy and tender! Towards the end I removed the skin and most of the fat and made crackling. Also did my veg in the oven as we like them crispy!
The flavours were amazing and my youngest said I was like Gordon Ramsey but with a cleaner mouth!
