Dipping a bacon wrapped pickle in a dipping sauce.

Your favorite smokey bacon is wrapped around pickles spears, any kind you like. Then they’re air fried until the bacon is cooked to crispy perfection cooked through. Served hot out of the oven with your choice of dipping sauce, like ranch dressing or spicy aioli these pickle appetizers are like little bites of heaven!

I kind of feel like these might be for people following the Keto Diet but I don’t care bacon-wrapped pickles are a good idea for everyone! And no, they’re not calorie-laden, 2 come in at just under 200 calories.

Some recipes call them pickle fries. That confuses me, maybe it’s a keto thing, but the pickle fries I’ve seen are literally dipped in batter.

I just call them EASY, and there’s nothing easier in the air fryer than maybe Air Fryer Toast.

All you need for bacon wrapped pickles.

Ingredients and tools you need:

  • Air Fryer, I use and love the Cosori Max XL 5.8
  • tongs
  • paper towels
  • bacon
  • pickle spears
  • dipping sauces

What kind of Bacon do I need?

For best results when wrapping ANYTHING in bacon I like to use regular bacon. Not a thick-cut slice of bacon. Thick-cut bacon doesn’t wrap and hold as well as regular bacon does. But if all you have is thick bacon you can use it.

You can use turkey or beef bacon if you want or need to. I don’t know how it will taste or perform but I suspect it will act as much like bacon as it can be.

What we’re looking for is that smoky bacon flavor, how you get there is up to you.

About the pickles

For mine, I used Grillo’s Pickle Spears from Costco. They’re like a fresh sour dill pickle, and we really love them on their own as a tasty snack. But you can use ANY pickles you like. Sour pickles, a homemade pickles recipe, or whole pickles you cut into spears or use your favorite pre-cut pickle spears. If you have to you can even use mini dill pickles but I’d leave them whole or just cut them in half.

Dipping Sauces

These make a great appetizer on their own, add a dipping sauce and they’re out of this world. We LOVE Spicy Aioli which is really just fancy spicy mayonnaise. You can also amp up the bacon flavor with my bacon ranch dressing recipe, smoky bacon flavor IN A DRESSING! Or get your spicy on with this Jalapeno Ranch dressing.
