Air Fryer S’mores

The campfire treat that doesn't need a campfire.

These little Air Fryer S’mores prove you don’t need a campfire, or even an oven, to get that gooey, toasted marshmallow, melty chocolate bite. Just about two minutes in the air fryer and you’ve got a treat that tastes like summer nights no matter what season it actually is. And if your campfire got rained out, these s’mores prevail no matter the weather.

A s’more made with a graham cracker, melted marshmallow, and chocolate sits on a white plate.

This recipe uses the air fryer to toast marshmallows and melt chocolate in stages, so everything comes together perfectly instead of ending up with a marshmallow that’s burnt before the chocolate has even softened. It’s a simple two-step process using just a handful of classic s’mores ingredients, no fire pit required.

This is the s’mores fix for any night you’re craving that campfire treat but don’t have the time, weather, or setup for an actual fire. It’s fast, it uses ingredients most people already have on hand, and it’s an easy one to let kids help assemble.

About Your Air Fryer

Air fryers vary more than people expect, even between two models from the same brand, it’s kind of wild! Basket-style air fryers tend to circulate air more aggressively and can often run hotter than oven-style air fryers with a front door and racks. This recipe was made in an air fryer with a basket so if you’re using the oven style your cook time will definitely vary.

Wattage matters too, a higher wattage unit will generally cook faster than a lower wattage air fryer. Even basket size affects things, since a smaller, more crowded basket restricts airflow and slows cooking down compared to a larger one with more room to circulate.

That’s why any air fryer(or for that matter ANY small appliance recipe)recipe should really be treated as a starting point rather than a guarantee.

What does this all mean?? Keep an eye on your s’mores. For this recipe specifically start checking at about 45 seconds and just take a peek. For this recipe opening the basket to peek doesn’t slow down the cooking process too, so don’t hesitate to check every 30 seconds or so once the marshmallow starts puffing up. Pull them the moment they puff up since they’ll continue to soften for a few seconds even after they’re out.

What You Need For Air Fryer S’mores

To make air fryer s’mores you need literally the exact same ingredients for s’mores over the campfire. You don’t need any extra or special ingredients for them.

  • graham crackers
  • milk chocolate bar
  • marshmallows

You will also need:

  • an air fryer, I used a basket style air fryer for these s’mores
  • a parchment paper liner

Change Up These S’mores

Our favorite change up for s’mores is using Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. The peanut butter just takes it up a notch. My husband also likes dark chocolate but I prefer milk chocolate.

You can also swap out the graham crackers for Biscoff biscuits, butter sables, or even shortbread. Any crispy crunchy base works just fine, so use what you like!

No Leftovers!

Because you’re want to make these on an as needed basis you shouldn’t make any extras. They don’t reheat well and they don’t wait well either. So make them fresh as your family is going to enjoy them.
