The extra graham cracker crumbs on top are an optional topping and not needed.

Can you Really Bake with Marshmallows?

NOPE! If you add marshmallows to any recipe and bake it as you normally would those marshmallows will melt. They’ll bake away until they’re melted through.

The trick to making these bars is NOT overbaking them after you add the marshmallows. You have to completely bake the base layer and then add the toppings.

Just melted marshmallows in these cookie bars.

Once you add the marshmallows, chocolate, and extra graham cracker crumbs you return to the oven just to cook the marshmallows and melt the chocolate.
