Slow Cooker Chocolate Cherry Cobbler
If you love the combination of cherries and chocolate, this Slow Cooker Chocolate Cherry Cobbler is THE no mix, no bake dessert for you! When you need a dessert and don’t want to heat up the house or you don’t have time to babysit something in the oven THIS is the easy slow cooker dessert you need in your life.

This crock pot dessert combines fresh or frozen bing cherries with chocolate cake mix, butter and plenty of chocolate chips for a warm, gooey dessert that practically bakes itself. The cherries create a soft fruit layer while the cake mix and butter form a rich topping as everything cooks together.

It’s also a great dessert when you don’t want to turn on the oven. The slow cooker keeps the kitchen cooler while still giving you a warm homemade dessert.

What You Need to Make This Recipe
One of the great things about this recipe is that it starts with a cake mix which means there isn’t a lot of measuring or fussing about. Plus you’re just layering the ingredients in the slow cooker, so there’s no mixing either!
- Fresh or Frozen Bing Cherries-see notes below
- Sugar
- Cornstarch
- Butter
- Chocolate cake mix
- Chocolate chips
- *optional* whipped cream or ice cream for serving
- Slow Cooker-This was made in an oval slow cooker about 11 inches long and 9 inches wide
- Paper Towels (information below)

Baking In A Slow Cooker
For baking in a slow cooker you’ll also need a couple of paper towels. These go between the lid and the cooking crock to soak up the steam in the pot. That liquid on the paper towels will be hot so be careful when you peel them back upon opening the slow cooker.
As the slow cooker heats up moisture collects on the lid and drips down back into the crock. When you’re slow cooking dinner that moisture dripping down is fine but not when you’re baking.

Fresh Or Frozen Bing Cherries?
I use bing cherries I pitted and froze last year for this dessert. I love buying them in season and tucking them away for desserts just like this. When you’re using them for this dessert don’t even worry about thawing them first, just pop them in frozen and let the slow cooker do all the work.
If you have fresh they will work as well. Just wash them, pit them, measure them out and pour them in and you’re ready to roll.

Storing Leftovers
Store leftover cobbler in covered dish for 24 hours. After that it’s best kept in the refrigerator for 2-3 more days. For the best flavor (and texture) reheat leftovers in the microwave or in the air fryer.

I don’t like cherries…can strawberries be used instead?
I don’t see why not? But I haven’t made it with strawberries.
