Ingredients

  • 3 lb chicken breasts
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 8 whole pepperoncini peppers (reserve the juice from the jar)
  • ¾ cup pepperoncini juice
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, sliced

Instructions

  • Spray the inside of a large slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray
  • Spread the diced onion evenly across the bottom of the slow cooker
    Chopped white onions spread evenly in a white dish.
  • Place the chicken breasts on top of the onion
  • Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and au jus gravy mix evenly over the chicken

  • Place the whole pepperoncini peppers on top of the chicken, then pour in ¾ cup of the reserved pepperoncini juice

  • Distribute the slices of butter over the chicken

  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 4–5 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded
  • Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker, mixing it with the flavorful juices

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add extra pepperoncini, spicy peppers, or a splash of hot sauce
