Heaven on Earth Cake

Worthy of its name this Heaven on Earth cake is the perfect dessert for a potluck. With layers of angel cake and vanilla pudding swirled with pie filling it’s a rich, moist cake that everyone loves.

Ingredients

  • 1 Angel Cake prepared
  • 3.4 ounce package instant vanilla pudding 4 serving package
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 c sour cream
  • ½ tsp almond extract or use vanilla
  • 20 ounces strawberry pie filling or cherries
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip
  • 1 T chopped almond pieces

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the milk, sour cream, pudding mix and almond flavoring. Whisk until combined, Set aside
  • Cut up the prepared Angel Food Cake into 1-inch size cubes
    A pile of white cubes.
  • Place half of them in the bottom of a 13x9 or similar sized baking dish. Set aside.
  • Dollop about half of the pie filling in spoonfuls over the cake pieces.
  • Cover with the remaining cake pieces and gently press down to create an even layer

  • Spread the pudding mix evenly over the cake pieces

  • Top with the cool whip and spread evenly to the edges.

  • Dollop the remaining pie filling over the cool whip.

  • Loosely cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  • Sprinkle with the almond pieces and serve.

Notes

Storage: Cake can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
