Spider Web Saltine Toffee

Turn saltines into something spectacular with this sweet, salty, and crunchy toffee dressed up with spooky chocolate webs.

Equipment

  • Toothpicks
  • Foil
  • Baking sheet
  • Cleaned and dried spider rings (optional, for decoration)

Ingredients

  • saltines to line a baking sheet
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white melting chocolate

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F
  • Line a 15x10-inch baking sheet with foil
  • Lay saltines in a single layer and set aside
  • Cut butter into chunks and add with brown sugar to a saucepan
  • Melt butter and bring to a boil
  • Reduce heat and cook for 4 minutes, just below boiling
  • Pour toffee mixture evenly over saltines
  • Bake for 5 minutes
  • Melt the white melting chocolate using a double boiler or heatproof bowl over a saucepan
  • Remove toffee from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top
  • Let chocolate chips melt, then spread evenly with a knife or offset spatula
  • Transfer melted white chocolate to a ziplock bag and snip off the corner
  • Pipe concentric circles on the melted chocolate
  • Use a toothpick to drag lines outward from the center to make spider webs
  • If using spider rings, press them onto the toffee and secure with a dab of white chocolate
  • Chill for 2 hours until set
  • Break into pieces and serve
