- 1 pound chicken wings drums and flats only
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 TBSP brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder use chipotle chili powder if you want MORE heat
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper divided half in the spice rub half in the sauce
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce your favorite brand
- 1 TBSP honey
- pinch of red pepper flakes more if you like it spicy
preheat the oven to 400°
line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment if you want to cover it
pat the wings dry
mix the baking soda, brown sugar, and the spices from garlic powder through the half of the cayenne pepper
rub the spice mix on the chicken wings
place on a rimmed baking sheet
bake in the oven for 20 minutes
then take them out, turn them over and bake again for 10 minutes
while the wings bake mix the barbecue sauce and honey together, add the red pepper flakes and the remaining cayenne
after 10 minutes brush the sauce all over the wings and bake until the sauce is just set and sticky
serve with dips if you desire
