Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes

When you make Mashed Potaotes in the Instant Pot you free up your entire stove for last minute dishes you NEED to work on.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds yukon gold potatoes OR your favorite mashing potato peeled and diced
  • water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • parsley for garnish is desired

Instructions

  • plug in the Instant Pot
  • add the peeled diced potatoes to the inner pot
  • cover with water
  • sprinkle with one teaspoon of salt
  • add the lid, turn the knob to seal, set the pot for 8 minutes manual high
  • When its done cooking and has beeped immediately release the pressure, if it sputters close it, wait a minute and try again
  • once the pressure is released drain the potatoes and add them back to the inner pot for mashing
  • add the butter and milk or cream, mashed together completely using a potato masher OR a ricer OR a food mill
  • if you feel like you need more milk you can add it here
  • add salt and pepper to taste
