French Apple Cake

Equipment

  • 1 9-inch springform

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup butter melted
  • 4 cups apples peeled, cored, and sliced thinly (4-5 medium granny smith apples)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar *optional* for sprinkling

Instructions

  • preheat oven to 350º
  • combine flour, salt, and baking powder, and set aside
  • whisk eggs well and whisk in milk and vanilla
  • stir in sugar, and mix well and set aside,
  • peel, core, and slice apples
  • going back to batter, stir in the flour mixture, and then butter, until mixed smooth
  • fold in apple slices until completely coated
  • pour batter into a greased 9” spring form pap
  • bake in preheated oven for 70 minute
  • remove from oven and let rest 10-15 minutes
  • loosen edges of the pan, and release springform
  • sprinkle with powdered sugar
  • serve warm or cold

Note: Interrupting the batter making to work on the apples allows the sugar crystals to dissolve before mixing in flour
