Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain almonds
  • 2 teaspoons oil if you use coconut oil just melt it first
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon tomato powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple wood smoked salt try alder smoked too
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder salt free

Instructions

  • pre-heat oven to 300˚
  • mix the almonds and the oil
  • spread on a cookie sheet and roast for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, don't burn them
  • while they roast grind up your spices, now of course everything is ground already but I find smoked salt to be very course and you want it to be fine so it will cover the almonds nicely
  • use a pestle and mortar or a spice grinder
  • once the nuts are nicely roasted
  • remove them from the oven
  • pour in a clean dry shallow bowl
  • sprinkle the spice mix over, them stir to combine
  • pour them back on the cookie sheet and let them cool completely
  • store them loosely covered to keep them crispy and crunchy

Notes

  • I list roasting them at 300˚ for 20-25 minutes, you can also go higher temperature for a shorter amount of time, such as 350˚ for about 10 minutes
