Cinnabon French Toast

Course: Breakfast, Main Dish
Cuisine: Alaskan, American
Servings: 4 servings
Author: Laura

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of dry bread -I would use any thick cut and dry bread you have-French bread, Italian bread or Texas toast work well-I used sandwich bread because I was not planning to make french toast
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup half and half
  • 1 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
  • butter for frying, amount will vary
  • 3 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar more to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon milk

Instructions

  • dry your bread if you have time it makes better french toast-low oven for 15 minute helps!
  • beat the eggs and the half and half
  • beat in the cinnamon and vanilla
  • melt butter in a skillet over medium heat
  • when hot dip 2-3 slices of bread in the egg mix
  • and place in the hot skillet
  • cook until lightly crispy brown on the bottom
  • flip and cook until lightly brown again
  • repeat with the remaining bread
  • serve hot with a fat dollop of cream cheese glaze on the top
  • to make cream cheese glaze: mix cream cheese, sugar and milk together

Notes

cinnamon content can vary with little to no problem add more or less as your family likes--a LOT is not that great vanilla content, this seems to be just about right but again use more or less to taste half and half is my go to for French toast, milk works but the result is soggier toast cream cheese glaze can have more sugar added but we like a bit of tang with ours fresh jam is equally delicious if you don't have cream cheese to make a glaze
