How to Make a Charcuterie Board

The best charcuterie boards, savory OR sweet, have lots of snacking options in small bite form for all types of people. Typically and traditionally, these are meat and cheese trays with a few bits and bites thrown to cleanse the palette or set off the cheese just so.

But as they grow in popularity, you know there are so many more types of charcuterie boards out there. Like this Breakfast Charcuterie Board or a Christmas Charcuterie Board, they’re so beautiful! I’ve seen nacho boards, ice cream boards, and of course, butter boards!!

Ideas for appealing boards, this list includes savory and sweet ideas:

  • nuts or seeds
  • a variety of meats to please your crowd
  • cheeses to slice
  • sliced cheese
  • cheese to spread
  • pickled fruits or vegetables
  • Baked Apple Roses
  • sliced fruits
  • berries
  • grapes in bunches
  • cookies
  • dips
  • chocolates
  • cake pops
  • dipping sauces

What’s in this Apple Pie Dessert Charcuterie Board?

  • Three kinds of apples, Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and Galas, but use any kind you like!
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Butterscotch Sauce
  • Caramels
  • Shortbread Cookies
  • Whipped Cream
  • Chopped Walnuts
  • Hard Caramel Candies

What else can go on a Dessert Charcuterie Board?

There can also be non-edible components on your board like picks, forks, cheese knives, filler, bowls, labels, and so on. I have found it nice to have things labeled for folks so they can easily pick and choose.
