Quick and Easy Party Tips
I love a good party, and what I love even more is throwing a good party. For me it’s all about having friends over, making fabulous food, sharing new recipes with them, and visiting for hours. If I can find a reason to cook for hours for friends I’m happy! But sometimes I don’t have hours to spend cooking in the kitchen or decorating for a party. In those instances, I turn to a few of my very best ‘Quick and Easy Party Tips’ to get me through.
Laura’s Quick and Easy Party Tips
- MYO: I like to set up a “MAKE YOUR OWN” Bar. My newest favorite is an MYO Sandwich Bar featuring Eckrich Deli Meat from the Walmart deli counter. I can get all the other sandwich makings in one quick stop at Walmart, too. Before the party, I merely prep the meat, cheese and vegetable trays in under 20 minutes. Store them in the fridge until ready to use. I set out a few condiments, and everyone is happy to make their own sandwich to suit their needs. I can even easily customize to address any dietary issues or create a separate platter in cases of extreme allergies. The MYO Bar is an excellent way to feed everyone easily. Eckrich Deli Meats are quick, easy, and versatile which make them perfect for entertaining because you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time with your friends and party guests. They are also gluten-free, full of flavor and easy to pick up at the Walmart deli. They have a full line of natural smoked and natural juice hams, giving you lots to choose from when you entertain.
- Make it Special: Make something special for the party, even if it’s just a little something, your guests will appreciate you for it. When I set up an MYO Sandwich bar, I like to include this 5 Minute Aioli (recipe below). Not only is it quick but it tastes good, and you can make it from things you probably already have on hand. Don’t stop there, make a special pot of coffee for friends or my 5 Minute No Fail Salted Caramel Sauce to serve over ice cream.
- Keep Supplies On Hand: My pantry has a special shelf JUST for party or picnic supplies. Stacks of paper plates, paper napkins, and even drinking cups make it a snap to pull together a party in no time at all.
- And drinks??: EASY! Use plastic or paper cups, pitchers of water or punch or whatever you prefer. Put a couple sharpies on the table and have friends write their name or draw on their cup, so there’s no confusion.
- Cleaning: House cleaning, yes you do need to make sure your house is ready for friends. I have 3 things I insist on before a party, everything else doesn’t matter. Trash MUST be taken out, Bathroom must be wiped down, Vacuuming must be done to rid us of flyaway dog hair. Everything else can be ignored, I promise you no one is going to notice.
