When the opportunity to write about Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash came along I could not pass it up. Truly, if there is one thing that will ruin a weekend in a split second, it is running out of Hormel ® Mary Kitchen® Hash, so I avoid that little scenario whenever possible. I try to always buy the six packs or four packs of Hormel ® Mary Kitchen® Hash at out local bulk store, 3 Bears, then I’m never out. Which is great because just about every weekend we enjoy a breakfast burrito bar featuring hearty Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash.

We’ve learned to perfect our system for enjoying long breakfasts on the weekend by setting up a “build your own” burrito bar,  because everyone likes their Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash Breakfast Burrito made their own way. It’s part build your own, part we’re here to help, and completely awesome! Here’s our list of must haves for our

Breakfast Your Way Burrito Bar:

  • 1-2 cans of Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash depending on how many you’re feeding
  • large or medium flour tortillas
  • eggs enough for 1-2 per person
  • shredded cheese, your choice but try some swiss or pepper jack for a little fun
  • salsas, premade or fresh made or even fruit
  • fresh fruit or maybe this oil free vegan granola
  • hot coffee and or fresh milk

And then we literally set up a buffet line. Here’s what we do:

  1. start by opening a couple cans of Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash and get them cooking in a frying pan over medium heat, turning every few minutes so it’s crispy– because crispy is the way to go AM I RIGHT!?!
  2. next we make lots of fresh coffee because what good is a long breakfast without it? skip if you don’t like coffee
  3. on the far end of the counter we get the toaster set up for that one kid who prefers toast and not a tortilla for his Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash Breakfast Burrito-that way he can get his toast done without us getting in his way
  4. then we fill the sink with warm soapy water so any dishes made while making breakfast can be soaked while we linger over coffee
  5. next comes the egg station where you can cook your eggs to your liking–this was a BIG one for our family because given my druthers I’d rather just scramble a dozen eggs and be done but some of us like eggs over easy, some prefer sunny side up and still others don’t want an egg anywhere near THEIR burrito–obviously if you have young kids who don’t cook you’ll want to cook for them but older kids can easily cook their own egg
  6. the Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash is next to the egg station and if you’re doing it right it’s been cooking on medium high for at least 15 minutes and it’s getting crispy because crispy Hormel® Mary Kitchen® Hash is where it’s at
  7. in the microwave or the oven you should be steaming flour tortillas
  8. after the Hormel ® Mary Kitchen® Hash station comes the plate stack where you can grab a plate and put your burrito together
  9. then comes the finishing touches on your Breakfast Your Ways Burrito Bar like salsa, hot sauce, shredded cheese and whatever else you need to complete your Hormel ® Mary Kitchen® Hash breakfast burrito–you can put any leftovers here too, like salad or vegetables, you never know what you might want on your burrito
  10. I always line up some sort of fresh fruit choice too, it’s nice to have a little fresh bite to go along with coffee and a breakfast burrito
