Today was the first sunny day in a week and a half, we’ve either had rain or cloudy gloom but today, glorious sun. We took the day as it came, reading, relaxing, trimming roses, playing in boxes, riding bikes, filling the fountain and mowing.
We have a reel mower which means we can easily mow the grass while the kids are playing in the same yard. I like it and I hate it about equally. We have a LOT of lawn not grass so much but green stuff that grows fast especially when it’s rainy. I like the reel mower because it’s quiet, doesn’t stink and it doesn’t hurl things out at inopportune times like rocks and legos. What it also doesn’t do is cut very well, it leaves tall stuff pretty much errr tall and just knocks it over for a while. It doesn’t do corners, close trimming or a really good job on short stuff either. So why bother? I don’t know, I like not having to buy gas or replace windows because I threw a rock at it with a mower. Plus the arms and abs workout is awesome!
and it didn’t chop this little guy up either:
he was a welcome find
and he liked clover
and when he left the dog took over being cute
as well as the boy
then a storm rolled in and our sunny day went gray. Ah well it was bedtime anyway and we’re glad the sun went behind some clouds. It can be tough to sleep in all this sunshine!
What kind of mower do you use? Have you found frogs this year? This was our first!
Don’t forget you can win an iPad, 2 actually! One for me and one for you, all you need to do is go to the post below and leave a comment with a recipe idea for the best use of Propel Powder. Maybe a slushy summer cooler or yogurt lassi? Mmmm popsicles?! Leave a comment on that post and before the 7th of July and I’ll send it to SheSpeaks for consideration. If your recipe is picked we both win! WOOT!
Peace and Love-
We have a reel mower too and I love it and hate it for the same reasons. But I love not having to buy gas. And being green.
We have a riding mower because we have a big lawn. At one point we used a push mower and it took us 8 hours to mow the dang lawn! never again.
We've had frogs for awhile now. They usually greet us when we come home.
Why did I not know you had a dog? It's such a cute thang!
We have a lawn mowing service, but when I lived on my own I had a reel mower. Did you know you can actually get the blades sharpened? That might help yours cut better if it's an antique like mine was! hehe
We have a riding mower. A gift from my parents (yes- they are incredibly generous) that only Dan uses. I lack motivation & would prefer to have my lawn mowed by a nice little flock of Wensleydale/Merino crosses.
Oh yeah.. Another entry for my Round Robin. Thanks for taking the time to join in again.. I loved the frog I am so glad he was okay.. cute dog too..
Have a great day..
We don't have much lawn to mow.
We actually have more Georgia red dirt than anything else. Sometimes hubby gets out the weed eater. That's about all it takes. We do have lots of trees, which means lots of leaves to rake.
I love your pictures.
Glad it quit raining so you could get some outside time.
I thought this post might be about the new book CITY DOG, COUNTRY FROG By Mo Willems. Too funny.
love the boy and the dog..
what bright and fun reflections.
Happy Round Robin!
